Classical MusicThe Kumho Art Hall Yonsei with 390 seats opened in October 2015 at the Yonsei University Baekyang Complex.
Sam Koo Park, the Chairman of KCF, donated 10 billion Korean won for the promotion of the arts and culture to university students. Thanks to his generosity the construction of the Kumho Art Hall Yonsei, with the near-perfect acoustics and an interior suitable for chamber music, was made reality. The hall’s location was specially selected due to its convenient connection to other amenities in the vicinity as well as ease of access for patrons.
Situated in the heart of downtown Seoul, the Kumho Art Hall opened in December 2000 with a capacity of 305 seats. In March 2008 it was re-opened after refurbishment with an increased capacity of 390 seats.
Had regarded as one of the leading venues in Korea for chamber music and solo recitals, the hall boasted superior acoustics and state-of-the art equipments and facilities. The Kumho Art Hall presented a stage where musicians can regularly perform and introduces the highest caliber of concerts and artists to Korean classic music audiences.
Since its opening the hall featured KCF signature programs from the Friday Concert Series to the present Beautiful Thursday Concert Series. Furthermore, it showcased the highest quality of local and international performers. On Saturdays, the ‘Kumho Prodigy Concert Series’, and the ‘Kumho Young Artists/Chamber Concert Series’ were featured, allowing young artists to make their debuts. The Kumho Art Hall featured three concerts per week presented by KCF as well as a range of performances sponsored by other arts agencies. The Kumho Art Hall was where music lovers can find enjoyment in the performing arts 365 days a year.
The 210 seat Munho Art Hall opened in March 2006 and was designed to be used by young Korean musicians. The hall served as an educational sphere to foster budding young artists.
The Munho Art Hall also offered an extensive education program and had been praised for its hands-on musical learning. ‘Edu-Concert,’ for example, was where elementary school students can experience classical music with their parents. The Munho Art Hall was also the venue for the Kumho Prodigy and the Kumho Young Artists master classes. Here top virtuosos were invited to share their knowledge of music and life lessons to inspire the students.
