FINE ARTThe Kumho Museum of Art has made efforts to expand the general public’s understanding of culture and art through organized educational programs. In an effort to furnish artists and experts with a deep knowledge and information, numerous lectures and seminars are provided. These include ‘Kumho Art Academy,’ ‘Kids Popcorn,’ ‘Kumho Special Lectures,’ along with other initiatives which run on a regular annual basis.
The Kumho Art Academy has been in operation since 1987 and the museum has laid emphasis on the art and cultural theory, preceding the opening of the Kumho Gallery in 1989. The Academy has consisted of various all-encompassing courses on classical music, fine arts, architecture, design and more for the past 30 years, and has garnered deservedly favorable reviews.
The Kumho Museum of Art emphasizes its operation of diversified child-centered workshops and educational programs, specially made to fit the need of each exhibition. In particular, Kids Popcorn, initiated in 2011, offers a variety of interactive artist workshops for children by giving an opportunity to learn and participate in a collaborative process of creating art. It facilitates children’s understanding of contemporary art as well as affording them with extensive creative art activities. In this program, presented in collaboration with artists selected from Kumho Young Artist and resident artists of the Kumho Art Studio, children are given unique opportunities to promote hands-on art making activities and to achieve a practical, interactive learning experience.
